Andy Fisher

Andy Fisher received an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement from Vincennes University in 1999. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Ball State University in 2001.

Andy began his law enforcement career in March of 2002 when he was hired as a Merit Deputy by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. After graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to the Road Division, where he has proudly served throughout his career, rising through the ranks to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and now Major.

Since 2019, Andy has served as the Road Division Commander under Sheriff Duane Burgess. In this role, Major Fisher is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Road Division, ensuring the safety and efficiency of patrol operations, managing personnel, and coordinating resources to protect and serve the residents of Johnson County. His leadership has been instrumental in maintaining the high standards and effectiveness of the division.

Andy is an Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Instructor in Emergency Vehicle Operations and an instructor in Standardized Field Sobriety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He is also a certified accident investigator, has served as a field training officer, and was a long-term member of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office dive team. Over his career, Andy has received two lifesaving awards and has been recognized three times by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for excellence in DUI enforcement.

In 2019, Andy attended the 7th session of the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy, joining law enforcement leaders from across the United States to enhance leadership skills and inter-agency cooperation.

In 2022, Andy was honored to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, as part of Class 281. This prestigious 10-week program, which selects law enforcement leaders for their demonstrated leadership qualities, offers advanced coursework in intelligence, terrorism, management science, behavioral science, forensic science, and more. Participants included over 250 law enforcement professionals from across the U.S. and around the globe, with the goal of improving justice administration and fostering international law enforcement collaboration.

Andy has been married for 22 years and is a proud father to their beloved daughter. A devoted family man and passionate community servant, his deep-rooted commitment to Johnson County inspires and drives every step of his career.
